Victoria Falls Bungee Jump: The 111-Metre Bridge Jump Guide
Everything you need to know about jumping 111 metres from the Victoria Falls Bridge.

The Setting: Victoria Falls Bridge
The Victoria Falls Bridge is an Edwardian-era steel arch bridge built in 1905. It connects Zimbabwe and Zambia 111 metres above the Zambezi River, with the spray from Victoria Falls visible to the east. Cecil Rhodes originally ordered it built close enough to the falls that the spray would wet the passing trains.
The jump platform is on the bridge itself, roughly at the centre of the span. You look down at the churning Zambezi below, with the gorge walls rising on either side. On a clear day, you can see the rainbow that forms in the permanent mist cloud over the falls.
What It Feels Like
The bungee jump and the gorge swing are both terrifying, but in different ways. With the bungee, the height is the thing. You are standing 111 metres above the river, higher than a 30-storey building, and you can see every metre of the drop.
When you jump, the cord starts taking your weight after about two seconds. You accelerate to roughly 160 km/h, then the cord stretches and bounces you back up. You bounce several times before hanging still, spinning gently above the river. The adrenaline hit is immediate and enormous.

Safety
The Victoria Falls Bridge bungee has been operating since 1994. The cord is custom-made and rated for loads far beyond what any jumper produces. Each cord is replaced after a set number of jumps, well below its rated lifespan. The crew adjusts cord tension based on your exact weight.
Staff are trained in vertical rescue, and a recovery team is positioned below the bridge during every session. For more safety information, see our Safety and FAQs page.
