Zimbabwe: Where the Gorge Swing Is
If you are reading this site, you probably want to do the gorge swing. It is on the Zimbabwe side. So is the zipline, flying fox, and the main white water rafting launch points. Victoria Falls town is small, walkable, and built around the tourism industry.
The Zimbabwe side of the falls national park gives you views of about 75% of the waterfall's width from a series of viewpoints along the rainforest walk. The spray creates a permanent rain shower on the path, and on clear days, you will see a full rainbow arcing across the gorge.
Zambia: Devil's Pool and the Knife Edge
The Zambia side offers a different perspective. The Knife Edge Bridge gets you out onto a narrow promontory overlooking the Eastern Cataract, with the falls roaring on both sides. During low water season (September to December), you can swim in Devil's Pool, a natural rock pool right on the lip of the falls.
Livingstone, the nearest town on the Zambia side, is about 10 kilometres from the falls. It is a larger town than Victoria Falls with more everyday shops and services, but less tourist infrastructure within walking distance.
Doing Both Sides
